VICKY MILLER CHRISTIANSEN
Candidate for Judge
Domestic Relations Court of Licking County
Vicky Christiansen is a 1979 graduate of Capital University Law School with a Juris Doctorate. She graduated from Capital University in 1976 with a B.A. in political science. In 1972 she graduated from Lakewood High School in Hebron, Ohio.
Vicky started her law career with the law firm of Hite & Hite in Utica, Ohio in general practice and was Utica's Assistant Village Solicitor for 2 years in 1980-81. She also was an associate with a small firm in Dayton, Ohio concentrating on construction law, and then as a staff attorney with Wendy's International in Dublin, Ohio in its real estate department.
In 1987 Vicky came back to central Ohio to practice with Larry Arnold in the historical Hudson Avenue District in the firm which became Arnold & Christiansen. Karen Wentworth joined the firm and after Larry's retirement, the firm became Christiansen & Wentworth Co., L.P.A.
Upon coming back to Central Ohio, Vicky took on more and more divorce and dissolution of marriage, custody, and support cases, and domestic relations quickly became her area of concentration. She's argued cases to the Ohio Supreme Court including a grandparents' rights case and spousal support case.
Vicky and her husband, Jeff Christiansen, a psychologist, met at Capital University. They married in the Japanese Gardens of Dawes Arboretum in the summer of 1976 before Vicky started law school. They have one daughter, Chelsea Francis, who is a teacher with the Newark City Schools. Chelsea and her husband, Justin, have given Vicky and Jeff two wonderful grandchildren.
Most recently Vicky has been active in her church, the Jacksontown United Methodist Church, serving as the Planning Committee Chair (which spearheaded the addition to the church), secretary of the Administrative Council, youth advisor with her husband Jeff, and participant in the church's various education programs, both adult and youth.
In the past, Vicky has served on the Boards of Hospice of Central Ohio, YWCA, and Family Counseling (predecessor to The Woodlands). She also served on the Battered Women's Advisory Counsel which was the predecessor to, and helped establish, the current Battered Women's Shelter in Newark. She was chair of the Licking County Bar Association Mediation Committee which established the Domestic Relations Court's current mediation program and chair of the Lakewood Strategic Planning Committee which resulted in the building of the new Lakewood High School. She served the Licking County Bar Association for several years as board secretary. She has participated in school mentoring programs for youth interested in law, and been a speaker on domestic relations law for Women's Changing World seminars and for other organizations.
Vicky's experience makes her the caring, capable, committed choice for Judge of the Domestic Relations Court.
